Propaganda Window Presents:
A projection installation by Gianni Wise
July 1 – 29
Opening Night Friday July 13 | 6pm
Discomposed, by Gianni Wise, is a three part work that combines footage from his grandfather’s now obsolete 8mm camera with out-takes from his own digital experiments.  These discards have been united to form three interrelated video projections that adopt visual tropes of fear and ‘other’ so often adopted by mass media and cinema. Using intentional film noir tropes gives the work an anxious, uneasy mood – something that is intentionally ambiguous and disconcerting.

Gianni Wise has an art practice which could be loosely described as 3D, installation based incorporating photography, video and drawing. He is a candidate for a Doctor of Philosophy at the Sydney College of Arts (University of Sydney). Gianni’s art practice and thesis interrogates the role of the paranoid ‘story’ as a strategy for both mainstream media and the nation state. Gianni has lived in Chile and Holland. In his 15 year practice he has exhibited in Australia, Santiago de Chile and Berlin.
